Italian Gambling Ad Laws Come Into Effect

Italy’s new online gambling advertising regulations came into effect on January 1, one year after the country opened its door to foreign operators offering casino, betting and poker products.

New gambling regulations

Under the new regulations, operators are prohibited from broadcasting gambling ads from 30 minutes before to 30 minutes after TV, radio and cinema programs targeting minors. In addition, they are required to emphasize their measures payout percentage during all TV, radio and cinema gambling ads.

AAMS, the national gambling authority has issued instructions to all online gaming operators. They clarified that their two logos, the operator’s details and license number, the 18+ logo and a statement on gambling addiction and payouts must be included in all gambling advertisements.

Italy launches online slots

Italy’s new online slots regulations came into effect in December, opening up a market worth around €268 million annually. Now Italy’s licenses online casinos can freely offer their customers all the different types of online video slots, including classic, 3D and progressive jackpot titles.

William Hill Casino Italy and All Slots Casino Italy were two of the first sites to launch slots for their Italian customers. Hill introduced 30 of Playtech’s video slots and progressive slots specifically for the local market, while All Slots lived up to its name by launching 50 of software developer Microgaming’s top slot games.
